LAMAS Return to Meetings

We are pleased to announce that as of the 1st of September 2021, we return to meetings at the Church of the Ascension, Torrisholme.

Our thanks to all who attended our first real meeting and to our speaker Prof. Derek Ward-Thompson who spoke of his ground breaking work with the Event Horizon telescope and first ever imaging of a Black Hole.

Welcome to the Lancaster and Morecambe Astronomical Society LaMAS.

We are a friendly group of local amateur astronomers in the Lancaster and Morecambe area. Beginner or expert, amateur or professional, young or old, anyone interested in astronomy is welcome to our society.

Try us out

We meet every month from September through to June. You do not have to be a member to attend a meeting, they are all open to the public. Just come along, pay £1.50 to cover society expenses, and become a member for the night. Or save a bit of money and pay £10 for annual membership (which runs from January to January) and attend all the meetings for free. For under 18s it is even better, everything is free!

What we do

In addition to regular meetings, we also have observing sessions, occasional social get togethers with other local astronomy groups, and we try to organise at least one big public event during the year.
